Aiwen is studying statistics at the Wharton school and minoring in math. She started playing the violin in kindergarten and has been in various youth orchestras and chamber groups ever since! In her free time, Aiwen likes to go shopping, cook new recipes, attend boxing classes, play card games, and curl up with a good book to read.


Claire Kang

Hometown: San Diego, CA

Claire is a sophomore studying Chemistry and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She’s been a violinist since she was 7 years old; her favorite part of playing the violin is playing with other people in orchestra and chamber and meeting friends passionate about classical music, which is why she joined PSO and is currently in a piano trio. Her favorite composers are Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Dvorak, and Schumann, and her favorite pieces are Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4 and Shostakovich Quartet No. 3. A fun fact about Claire is that she has six ear piercings!


Derek Zhang

Derek is a sophomore in the College studying biochemistry, with potential minors in music and healthcare administration. He’s been playing the piano since he was 5 and violin since he was 7, and his current favorite pieces are Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet (yes the whole ballet) and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé (both suites). In his free time, Derek likes trying new restaurants, reading depressing novels, and making dumplings with his grandma.


Ellie Clark

Ellie is a junior studying Music and History of Art. She’s been playing the flute for ten years and the piccolo for three years. When she’s not practicing, Ellie likes running and going to concerts. A fun fact about Ellie is that she is a transfer student.


Charlie Yang

Charlie is a freshman in the College studying Economics. He started playing cello in 6th grade and enjoys pieces from the Romantic era. Outside of orchestra, he enjoys exploring cafes and restaurants, doing photography, and hanging out with friends. A fun fact is that he’s left handed!


Stella Lee

Stella is a freshman in the College studying Mathematical Economics and Computer Science. She started playing the violin when she was 8 and her favorite composers are Ravel and Tchaikovsky. When she’s not in rehearsal, she can probably be found getting her breakfast smoothies at kcech, hanging out with her friends, reading science fictions, and going on nature walks. A fun fact is that she is allergic to cats!


Max Jiao

Max is a sophomore in the College studying mathematics with a minor in statistics. He started playing the clarinet in the fourth grade (and has since come to realize that it’s the best-sounding instrument in existence). His favorite composers are Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms, and his favorite piece is Beethoven Symphony No. 7. In his free time, Max likes to cook and eat, play competitive Tetris, and find new TV shows to binge.


Prhust Saleh

Hometown: Snellville, GA

Prhust is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Music. He started playing Viola in the 6th grade through his school’s orchestra program. He started private lessons in the 10th grade and wanted to pursue music seriously soon after. He has plans to be a music educator. A fun fact is that his name means ‘full of feeling’ in Sorani Kurdish.
