Maggie is a current sophomore in the College studying classics and political science. She has been playing violin in PSO since her freshman fall, and her favorite piece that PSO has played so far is Scheherazade. Outside of PSO, she is involved in Discentes and the Penn Classics Board.

Her skills include making the perfect ice cream scoop and knowing too much about Greek mythology. In her free time, she enjoys reading books, exploring Philly, and playing Switch games.


Talia Coopersmith

Favorite piece of music: Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade, Op. 35

Talia is the VP of Penn Symphony board and one of the principal second violins. Their favorite composers include Dvorak and Shostakovich and their least favorite composer is Beethoven!

Bonnie is the current PSO Marketing Chair for the 2023-24 concert season. She’s originally from Sault Ste. Marie, MI (Upper Peninsula represent!!), and in her free time she loves drawing, running, swimming, exploring cafe’s downtown, and annoying her roommates with humming classical music and Queen songs 24/7.


Thomas Sharrock

Thomas has played the cello since he was 4 years old, and his mum taught him on her lap. His prior orchestral experience consists of playing for the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra, and as principal cellist of the Hampshire County Chamber Orchestra. He also plays piano and organ in his free time. Outside of PSO, Thomas works at Financial Wellness @ Penn and is involved with the Penn German Society.

Thomas is a big swiftie, and is home town is Winchester in the UK! His favorite TV series is Friends, and he loves just chilling with his friends and family.


Daphne Nie

Major: Bioengineering

Favorite piece of music: Brahms Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73

Daphne is a junior majoring in bioengineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She began her violin studies at the age 10 with Mr. Hong-Guang Jia of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. When she’s not thinking about rhythmical challenges, she can be found performing nanoparticle research, running by the Schuykill, or eating good food.

Elliot is a sophomore in the College studying Anthropology and Biology. He is involved in PSO, PennKDSAP, PMMP, and research at HUP and CHOP. He loves drawing and runs a cartoon account on Instagram (go follow @moplusbo !!! >:))


Luna Sato

Luna is an international student from Yokohama, Japan. She started playing music when she was 5 years old, initially starting out with learning the piano. She has since continued to play music on not only the piano but on oboe and tenor saxophone as well, and loves all music genres ranging from classical to jazz to indie. When she is not in orchestra, she loves to read books or take naps!
